Where did he go?

06.23.10

Time goes by way to fast. It makes me a little weepy.

Here’s a picture of Ezra a little over a year ago in Miami.

And here is a picture of Ezra in Miami a week ago.

It’s only been a year!! He’s so big! Where did my chubby baby go? And that red hair? There wasn’t a hint of red a year ago!

The Chesterfield Penthouse

06.23.10

So I’m still not feeling like I’m back in the swing of things yet. (Confession: I took a 4 hour nap today. Oops. One of the perks of working from home I guess!) So I have a few things I wanted to blog about from our trip. I’m going to break them up in to smaller posts over the next few days so it doesn’t make one giant monster blog post.

First up: our accommodations. When in Miami we like to stay in the Art Deco District. We usually switch up boutique hotels and try different ones out. This time we stayed at the Chesterfield Hotel. Since it was our anniversary, we splurged and stayed in the penthouse suite. The room was really dark and without a tripod my pictures came out kinda blurry. The pictures below are from the South Beach Group’s album. Things have changed since these pics were taken, so even though my photos are crap, I’ll share a few of them.

I thought this was a creative idea. They used different vintage ceiling tiles on the ceiling. I’m sure they were cleaned up a little bit, but otherwise they were left in their original shape which made for some interesting eye candy.

And here’s the blurry shot I took:

As you can tell things have changed up a bit. The couches were re-upholstered in a silver leather. Two new couches were added along with a few new lamps, a new tv, and lots of cushions. You may recognize the ones on the couch from Ikea. You may also spot a lot of West Elm in the decor. I love the ceiling lights. I’ve seen them (or similar ones) around before, but I couldn’t find them again to link to. If anyone recognizes them, let me know. They are absolutely gorgeous in person.

R & R

06.21.10

South Beach

Last week was our 10th anniversary. I still can’t believe it. At 27 and 32 neither one of use feels nearly old enough to be celebrating such a mark! (We got married young  :) ) To celebrate, we headed down to South Beach to soak up some sun and get a little R&R. Boy was it nice. The turquoise water was calm and crystal clear – perfection. I wish we were still there! Vacations are never long enough are they?

On holiday

01.04.10

Sorry we’ve been MIA. I’ve been getting several comments and some not so subtle hints that we need to resume posting.  :)   I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Our Christmas was spent at home. Nice. Quiet. Uneventful. Everyone enjoyed their gifts. We used a rosemary plant this year as our little Christmas tree. Needless to say rosemary has been making it’s way into an awful lot of dishes lately. Yum! Still, I can’t wait to be settled in to our new house and break out all of our Christmas decorations that have been in storage for so long.

I still haven’t finished going through the pictures we took from our Thanksgiving trip to Utah, but I’ll try to get that done in the next day or two to share. Until then, here’s a teaser pic of my little stud. Enjoy!

A Wicked Good Time

10.23.09

So this post is a little late. I can’t totally blame it on my sister. She sent me the pictures a little over a week ago and I just haven’t posted yet. Anywho… last month Evan left on his mission! I can’t believe it. We already miss him so much! He’s serving in the Lima, Peru mission and he’ll be gone for two years. Two years! Wow! Here he is looking spiffy in his new suit.

My mom graduated (top of her class – woo hoo!) the same weekend. Congratulations, Mom! Her degree is in Radiology and she is specializing in Mammography. She’s worked very hard the last four years and we’ve hardly seen hide nor hair of her, so it will be nice to have her back :)   Erin didn’t send a picture of mom from graduation, but I do have one of Ezra. He was an angel right up through the third song of the slide show that mom’s colleague put together. By that point everyone was getting fidgety, so you could hardly blame him. Learn to edit woman!

So these two things were great and well worth the quick trip, but the most exciting thing about the weekend? BRAD AND I HAD A DATE!!!!!!!!!!! (GASP!) I know. Hard to believe, right? This marks the first time Ezra was awake while being babysat. We’ve only had two other dates since he was born and both times we waited to leave him until he was asleep. We only called to check on him like five times, too. Not bad.

So what did we do on momentous our date? Brad got me tickets to Wicked! OH. MY. GOSH. It was awesome! I would say it’s my new favorite, but then I would feel like I was cheating on Phantom, which I’ve seen multiple times, so I’ll say it’s a tie.

On the way home we hit a milestone:

carmiles

Our car hit the 100k mark!! Pretty exciting! Not bad for an ’01, eh? Most of the miles were racked up when it served as Brad’s commuter car back in Utah. We hardly drive it now.
