Go with the Grain: Faux Bois

03.09.12

faux bois home accessories

My latest ideabook is up over at Houzz. My theme this month is faux bois (pronounced “foe bwah”), a French term meaning “fake wood.” It’s a trend I really like and I’m happy to report it’s still “growing” (haha) strong. My favorite faux bois accessories are items like #1 which feature grain patterns that are at once both simplified and exaggerated. They remind me of topographic maps. So, if you “wood” (my cheesiness can’t be stopped!), go check it out.

Quirky Knitted Poufs

02.07.12

I never tire of a good knitted pouf and these fruit and veggie knitted poufs by Anne-Claire Petit have such personality! They’re organic, too. Isn’t that clever? I like the apple the best. Second place goes to the lemon only because it might not be easily recognizable for what it is if it’s sitting there by itself. Any of these would look super cute in an eclectic style kid’s room.

Available here.

DIY Pop Art

03.28.11

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Stephanie Sabbe, she’s a southern belle transplanted to Boston where she runs her own design firm. I posted about her chevron wall here. Girl’s got mad DIY skills. Stephanie is expecting a baby boy very soon and has been sharing her nursery progress on her blog. The nursery is full of fantastic projects and she shares full instructions on each one. She even made her own crib sheets! My favorite is the pop art pictured above. You won’t believe how easy it is to make!
